Automatic Detection, Handling and Reporting for NERC-CIP Compliance

Here at TDi Technologies, we’ve been talking a lot lately about Event Lifecycle Management and its value in meeting compliance requirements. One fine example of the ability of ConsoleWorks to handle an event from beginning to end is the NERC-CIP Intelligent Event Module (IEM).

The NERC-CIP IEM enables ConsoleWorks to automatically detect NERC-CIP events, require users to comment (based on event severity), and automatically generate reports. A video demonstration of this IEM in action is available here: Youtube: The NERC-CIP IEM

In this video demonstration, you will see how the NERC-CIP IEM automatically identifies and displays NERC-CIP events in ConsoleWorks. The Automatic Forced Comment feature facilitates the event lifecycle by requiring comments for events that fall into a particular level of severity. In other words, these events cannot be acknowledged without the user entering text in the comment field.

The IEM also generates reports for NERC-CIP events that include the context directly from the NERC-CIP regulations for each event that is identified.
